What is the Australian 491 visa?

Regarding the nature of the Australian 491 visa, as we explained in the previous section; it is for skilled and specialized workers who must work in Australia for 5 years. The purpose of presenting this plan was to eliminate the shortage of labor in sparsely populated areas of Australia, because most migrant workers chose large and densely populated cities to work and live, and in practice, smaller cities were still facing a shortage of labor. Therefore, by introducing the subclass 491 scheme, it was decided that eligible applicants for this scheme would be selected to address the labor shortage in smaller cities.

For this reason, subclass 491 is also called the Australian low-population area visa.
